Where: Gig Harbor High School and Peninsula High School

When: Thanksgiving weekend and the First weekend of December

Cost: $5 at the door

Intro

A long-time tradition both of these fundraiser Arts and Crafts Festivals have grown to be some of the most popular holiday craft and artist fairs in the region. With over 100 unique vendors, these events draw a large crowd from all over the area. Everything from handmade toys and clothing to amazing artisan glass and woodworking.

I love to see the Gig Harbor community come together like this to support the schools and their students, but the artists as well. It’s great to see the high schools being such a point of gathering- these events mark another reason why small-town living brings a different connection than living in the city.

Tidefest took off with so much popularity that Peninsula High School started up a similar program that takes place on a different weekend so if you aren’t available for one you can go to the other.

What You Need to Know

Winterfest: This is a family-friendly community event that is hosted by and raises funds for the Peninsula High School. Programs such as school clubs, athletics, assembly speakers, and ASB supplies all benefit from the event. A 25+ year tradition, it is held every Thanksgiving weekend; Saturday 9-5 and Sunday 11-4. Admission is $5

Winterfest brings together over 130 artists and crafters from around the state to show their creations and also features an auction and holiday thrift store shopping event.

Tidefest: A similar festival held at Gig Harbor High School on the first weekend of December, this event features 100+ curated arts and crafts vendors, live music, food, activities, decorations and Mr. and Mrs. Claus taking photos in Santaland. This event has been going on for 30+ years and draws a big crowd. Hours for the weekend are 10-5 Saturday and 11-4 Sunday. Admission is $5

Both events are held indoors but plan to walk from the large parking lot that is usually very full and busy. At either event, you will get in the holiday spirit, find unique gifts and holiday items, and know that you are contributing to help the schools and students.
