Point Fosdick is the southernmost tip of the Kitsap Peninsula and can be seen to the left when crossing the Narrows Bridge into Gig Harbor. It lies six miles South of Gig Harbor. It offers not only striking views of Fox Island, Puget Sound, and Mt. Rainier but is a mere 10 minutes to the Narrows Bridge giving easy access to I-5 and the surrounding region including Tacoma, Olympia, Seattle, and Bellevue. Drive time to Tacoma is only 15 minutes and Seattle and Bellevue can be reached in a little over an hour depending on traffic.

It also is only a 10 minute drive to the bustle of the Uptown retail district with all the amenities that one could need. In less than 15 minutes you can be in iconic downtown Gig Harbor with all it’s maritime resort vibes.

While the district is almost entirely residential it does have short commutes to local schools like Lighthouse Christian Elementary and Goodman Middle School.

Privacy and quality properties along with quiet wooded roads and lots and spectacular waterfront opportunities are just some of the main attractions of the area.

Point Fosdick does boast one of the only small airports in the area that has grown considerably the last few years and has a popular restaurant, The Hub, where you can watch planes take off and land and view brilliant sunsets.

The bulk of air traffic here goes over the Uptown commercial district but at times the air traffic can flow through Point Fosdick so some areas experience small plane traffic.

Only 10 minutes away you will find the Uptown District with venues like Oceans 5, a family center with bowling, lazer games, an arcade and restaurant. The luxury Galaxy movie complex and lots of dining options and big box stores are also in that area, along with dining options large and small.

This area also has two medical centers and an “Urgent care” clinic.

Slightly further in Gig Harbor you will find quaint small businesses and more dining along with water activities.

The Tacoma Narrows Park boasts one of the nicest beach parks in South Sound. This is a great place for beach-combing, fishing, swimming and picnics. It offers gorgeous views of the Narrows Bridge and Mt. Rainier.

A bit further away is the head of the Cushman Trail, a 6.2 mile pedestrian and bike trail with mixed grades and a 16ft. wide paved path with gravel shoulders. It also has onsite parking, restrooms and seating along the way.

Quiet back roads make this area pleasant for walking and running.

The type of properties offered lend themselves to gardening hobbies and outdoor entertaining.

Finally, Within 10 to 20 minutes you have access to both Madrona Links Golf Course and Artondale Golf Course meaning there really is something here for just about anyone.

Shopping | Point Fosdick

Other than the airport, Point Fosdick is an entirely residential area, but does include one of Gig Harbor’s oldest retail establishments and a local landmark, Anderson’s Store. I assume that the store was established back before the 1950 bridge and was a stop off for people getting off the ferry at Point Fosdick on their way home or to downtown Gig Harbor. Anderson’s has gas, some food and a rural version of standing around the water cooler. A place where locals shop and intersect. It still has a rural vibe that makes you feel like you’re in a small town.

For a big town experience, head down Pt. Fosdick Drive to Uptown where you will find big box stores like Ross, Marshall’s, Chico’s, Homegoods and Ulta alongside locally owned Ace Hardware and other small businesses.

This area boasts numerous grocery and food options from Fred Meyer and Safeway to more organic local and luxury options at Metropolitan Market and Harbor Greens.

You will also find dining and food to go with everything from fast food and Thai to gourmet burgers and Sushi.

Type of Properties | Point Fosdick

This is an area of many large, traditional, single-family homes, many of which have views and some which even have private beach access. You can find homes with lots of outdoor living spaces.

Because this is one of the oldest settlements in Gig Harbor, you can find homes from many eras and modern construction also. I have seen everything from a historic church converted into a residence to luxury modern mansions overlooking the Sound. While the majority of properties in this area are on larger lots, and there are many options here, you are unlikely to find acreage or agricultural land left.

There are a few neighborhood developments but mainly a variety of single family custom built homes, which usually means well thought out and nice quality.

Everything about this area adds up to it being highly desired which of course means a higher price point. If it’s in the budget, this is an area you will want to check out and sometimes a smaller older fixer will turn up down a wooded road for someone looking at a lower price point.
