Wollochet Bay in Wollochet
Wollochet Bay is nearly as large as Gig Harbor, and they are not far from each other. This makes it possibly the second most desirable waterfront in The Gig Harbor area. I’ve always wondered what makes it a bay rather than a harbor and it really comes down to how it’s used. They both are technically “bays”, but Gig Harbor is used for working Marina’s and boat fleets.
Wollochet Bay has no Marinas and only holds private boats and is surrounded by residential property.

Outdoor Activities/ Attractions
From the name alone, it’s clear that the biggest activities and attractions here have to do with the water. This is a great place for fishing, water-skiing and general boating activities.
Most of Wollochet Bay can be accessed by larger motorized boats, but the innermost part gets very narrow and can be shallow in places so speeds are reduced and the bay ends with a protected tidal zone that is now an estuary park.
Aside from Water activities, there is also the Artondale Golf Course, less than a mile away. The Golf course has classes and a club house, golf shop and rental venue for events.
Currently there is little public access to Wollochet Bay except for residents. There is one public boat launch in the Pt. Fosdick area that accesses the Bay but has little parking.
The Peninsula Metropolitan Park District is looking to expand the protected Estuary park in the inner tide flats to create a larger park to enhance the water access and recreation needs for the District including non-motorized boat access and wildlife viewing opportunities.

Shopping
Just about the only shopping in the Wollochet Bay Neighborhood is the quaint, local Artondale Farm Stand and Hall. The historic building used to be the Gig Harbor Grange. The old grange serves as the retail store for the farm, chock full of items grown or made on the neighboring property.
Wollochet Bay does have easy access to nearby shopping areas. The closest is the Uptown district which is only 7 to 10 minutes away and offers all kinds of big box shopping, including Homegoods, Marshalls, and Ace Hardware. You will find a variety of grocery stores like Harbor Greens, Safeway, and the upscale, Metropolitan Market, along with dining options.

Location
Wollochet Bay is located about 10 minutes from Highway 16. It offers easy access to the Narrows Bridge, Downtown Gig Harbor, Uptown Gig Harbor, nearby churches and schools like Artondale Elementary, Gig Harbor Academy, Goodman Middle School and Lighthouse Christian School.
