Fox Island in Gig Harbor
Fox Island offers a unique opportunity of island living in the middle of Puget Sound with a population of less than 4,000, but with ease of access via its own bridge. This is a quiet bedroom community with resort-style living. It offers peaceful, winding, wooded roads, lots of waterfront property and a slow paced life style.

Location
The Fox Island bridge boasts not only some of the most stunning waterfront and Mt. Rainier views in Puget Sound, but will get you to Gig Harbor in 20 min and Tacoma in 40 min.
With such a low population there is little worry about traffic, but keep an eye out for deer, pheasants and other wildlife while driving home on quaint wooded back roads. The small population and one way in access also means one of the lowest crime rates in Pierce county. This is a laid back and friendly community of commuters, retirees and self-employed individuals, all looking for a peaceful haven in the Northwest.
Amenities are limited but it does have a fire station, church, convenience store, and post office.

Outdoor Activities
Fishing, boating, beach combing and sunsets are some of the biggest attractions. You have ease of access for these activities at the public boat launch, bridge beach area and waterfront parks.
The large Fox Island fishing pier is ADA accessible and offers beautiful views. Get close to nature at the Tacoma Demolay Sandspit Nature preserve, known to locals as the Bella Bella Beach. These parks are safe, quiet, and uncrowded. There is a small 5-acre nature center that has wooded trails for exploring.
The Fox Island bridge offers a small beach rocky that one can park at to watch the sunset, and depending on the tide do some wading, fishing or have a beach fire with friends. Salmon are known to run through here in certain seasons.

Attractions
The Island features a yacht club, community center and the beautiful historic Chapel on Echo Bay for weddings and small events. The Nichols Community Center is a non-profit that maintains the historic 1934 school house building for public meetings and community activities. They host a Christmas tree lighting, Easter Egg Hunt and summer concerts. Groups like the Peninsula Art league and local quilters also meet there.
Attached to the Fox Island Grocery Store you will find the local hang out “Zog’s on Fox Island”. This charming eatery is up to date with a recent remodel in rustic PNW style. Summer nights can be spent in the outdoor gathering area. This is a garden oasis with fire pit and water features.

Shopping
There isn’t a lot of retail therapy on the Island but the Fox Island Trading Company is a quaint shop that features locally made products including Island Coffee.
You can also get your needs met at the Fox Island Grocery and Deli including an Espresso bar, wine collection and local beer on tap.
For context, the Uptown shopping center is about 10-15 minutes away depending on time of day and route taken, so your greater shopping needs can still be met without too much travel time.

Type of Homes
The Island offers a great variety of housing options, everything from family neighborhoods to condos and historic homes on acreage to newer, luxury view homes.
