There are over 12,000 movie festivals in the world and surprisingly little Gig Harbor is host to one that consistently ranks in the top 100! It is becoming one of the hottest destinations on the independent film festival circuit.

The Gig Harbor Film Festival hosts visiting filmmakers, screens over 60 films, and reaches an audience of over 4,000! The event also features local filmmakers.

What You Need to Know

All the films are shown in the Gig Harbor Galaxy Theater, an 11-screen IMAX luxury theater, with its own beer and wine bar, in Uptown Gig Harbor. The event lasts 3 days and includes question-and-answer sessions with directors and filmmakers. Last year 80 filmmakers attended in person.

Tickets can be bought online and in person for the $40 general admission that gives access to all movie showings.

$300 VIP tickets are also available giving access to various parties and social events on top of the showing of over 60 films, it also grants you access to all parties, and events taking place during the 4 days. You receive priority seating when you arrive 15 minutes before showtimes. Between films, relax and grab a snack in the VIP lounge. There are a limited quantity of VIP tickets and they usually sell out.

Local filmmaker Ken Roshelt, participated in the short film local contest that was part of the festival in the past. He said that the VIP social parties were amazing and held at extravagant luxury Gig Harbor private residences. Everything was really top of the line.

When you get tickets, you can access a fully curated and downloadable program that will give you everything you need to know regarding the festival schedule and which filmmakers will attend and lead Q&A sessions.

There is something for everyone in this festival, which started in 2007, with films from every genre. This includes independent, foreign, documentary, local, and animated films in feature lengths and shorts.

The fun continues on Sunday after 3 days of movies, enjoy the “It’s A Wrap” Mimosa Breakfast and Awards Ceremony The event begins at 9:00 am in the Imax Theatre lobby.
